Soap Box Derby

Andrew's first soapbox derby went fairly well. It didn't end like we wanted it to, but he did enjoy it and wants to do it again next year. He made it throuugh both runs of his first round, winning both the runs. Unfortunately, on the first run of his second round, he had a little crash at the bottom which disqualified him. His axel crossed the center line at the finish line and ran over an orange cone causing him to crash into the guard rail on his opponent's lane. I hated it for him because I knew he would look back on it and be angry that he blew it all by himself. If someone had out run him, he could say they just beat him fair and square, but instead, he sort of defeated himself. I actually worked the race as an EMT on duty. However, my son was the only child that I ended up rendering medical care to. He got a little bump on the forehead when his forehead hit the car on impact.

But, we're going to give it our best shot again next year! Congratulations
to Bailey and Tyler, a brother-sister team who each came in second in their division!
