Soup and Salad

When you think about it, soup and salad is a really unintelligent meal choice at Panera Bread. They come out at the same time. So, do you eat the soup first while it's hot? Or, do you eat the salad first so it's still really cold and crisp? And, if you say, "switch back and forth," that's even worse. See, to do that you have to use a soup spoon, then put it down and pick up a fork. Then, you have to do it again to eat the soup. See the dilemma? It's just too complicated. Next time I go, I'll probably just order.......soup and salad again!

We are big Iron Chef fans around here, and when Yan from Yan Can Cook is judge he likes to say that soup and salad is the yin and the yang. The perfect compliment to each other... the cold, crispiness of the salad offsets the hotness of the soup. Can you tell I watched Iron Chef recently?

Terri's comment just cracked me up! I have had that same problem when I go to Panerra...I usually end up eating the soup first with a couple of bites of salad thrown in for good measure :-)

Salad first (while letting your soup cool to a bearable temperature).

Better yet, go to Buckhead and get their soup in a bread bowl. YUMMY!!!!

Go for the soup and 1/2 sandwich--the perfect combo! Give me a call sometime buddy--it's been TO long since we chatted!
