My biggest frustration of the day was that big cameras aren't allowed in the arena, only small digital cameras. Well, I have a small digital camera, so I figured I was all set. Much to my dismay, it started malfunctioning that morning and wouldn't snap a single picture! What was I going to do? Theis whole photodocumenting our lives is a big deal to me! Well, being the awesome husband he is, Todd agreed to let me attempt to take my big camera in and said he would take it back to the car if I got stopped with it. One big overcoat and disguise job later and we were in...camera and all. Now my experience was complete!
We completely baffled Andrew, however. After we took our seats and before it got too crowded, I took the kids out to do their souvenir shopping. On the way, Megan grabbed me, started crying, and hugged me and just kept saying, "Thank you so much! Thank you so much!" over and over again. Naturally, I started crying, too. Andrew, my macho cool boy, just thought we were nuts. It made me so happy to be able to give them something they truly loved. And, if you can find a spiritual moment at a pop concert, I found it. I guess I got a taste of how good God must feel when He can give us the desires of our heart and how it must delight Him when we recognize those gifts are from Him and show our genuine gratitude to Him. I couldn't have felt more pleased or honored!
One other highlight of our weekend, was that we got to visit with our good buddies, Gilbert, Kate and Cole, and worship with them Sunday morning at their new church home. I felt guilty that we mostly went to Indiana for this concert, so I know we'll have to go visit them again without a teen pop star involved. But, I'll save the visit with them for another post, because it was great!
Today I just want to praise God for our safe trip to Indiana, a visit to a wonderful congregation, the opportunity to visit brothers ana sisters, the financial blessings to be able to take my kids to this concert, that my kids have some clean music to listen (to sung by a little gal who prays every morning and would take a Bible with her if she was stuck on a deserted island), and that all these good things come from Him!

HOW FUN! I can't wait to see some of these performances when Karson gets a bit older. We're heading to RUPP in March for the Monster Truck Jam. Isaac LOVES monster trucks. Megan is a sweetie pie, and I agree with her, you certainly are a wonderful mommy.
How cool that your middle school-aged daughter recognizes and is grateful when you do special things for her. Not many moms with kids that age can say that. In my opinion, that helps prove that God has helped guide you both in raising her to be a very sweet girl.
And I love the way you correlated this with how God must feel. Thanks! (So glad you made us part of your trip, too!)
What a great early gift for Megan! I bet you were definately on her top ten list!!! Looks like you all had a great time.
Too cool! Although (confession) I'm a tad bit jealous, I'm thrilled that your family got to make the trip and have such fun. I'm still trying to figure out how to get Billy Ray Cyrus to write a book about his experiences, so we can invite him and Mylee to the book festival. All my brushes with celebrity occur in the library world. But at least I was once kissed by the Fonz - a girl's got to have at least one story to tell! Hope your bronchitis goes away soon; I read your posts in backwards order. Take care!
