Ultimate Trampoline Frisbee

So, last night after the Senior High Bible Study, a new Net sport was created. It's Ultimate Trampoline Frisbee. And, while we were more focused on establishing the rules than keeping score, I'd have to say that Matt Miller is already a pro. My beloved Todd is pretty good, too. Andrew is a rookie showing lots of promise. Luke appears to be a novice, but with lots of practice, practice, practice could make the play-offs by the end of the summer. This, however, is not Mike Rich's sport (Sorry, Mike). So, how does it work?

Ultimate Trampoline Frisbee Rules:

  • Two opponents jump on the trampoline as "hovermasters" (Frisbee throwers) stand outside on all four sides of the trampoline attempting to hover Frisbees just over the trampoline enclosure. "Pointjumpers" attempt to catch the Frisbees while in mid-air.
  • The game can be played with a partner as a team sport. Pointjumpers who get tired can tag team their partner to enter the trampoline enclosure.

  • Each catch is worth 2 pts.

  • Catches that ricochet off the enclosure before being caught are 1 pt.

  • Catches that pass through an opponents hands or are touched by an opponent before being caught are 4 pts. This is a "steal-catch."

  • An extra point may be awarded for style if at least two "hovermasters"agree that it was worthy.

  • Catches made through the net enclosure or by extending arms outside the net are worth 6 pts.

Helpful hints:

  • Playing at night works best with a light-up Frisbee.

  • The better skilled the "hovermasters," the more successful the "pointjumpers."
Who knows, maybe by the end of the summer we'll have a tournament with brackets and everything!
(Photographer's Note: The cool red words circling Matt in the picture are from the Frisbee. It flashes lights that create words that can only be read if the Frisbee is in rapid motion. In this case, it looks like we're shooting and ad for "powerful, non-sedating Allegra-D)
(Editor's note: Did you know that Frisbee is a brand name and if you're not referring to an actual Frisbee brand disc, you should call it a "flying disc?" See, college was good for something!)

This sounds really neat. We enjoyed having Megan in class last night. We are very excited about our new group of kids.
