Na Pali Coast and Wiamea Canyon

On Tuesday morning, we boarded this boat with 22 other people to tour the Na Pali Coast. The coast is the beautiful panoramic scenery you see on postacards, calendars and in the movies. Unfortunately, given the nature of this little boat, cameras had to stay in dry packs most of the time or they would have been ruined. So, we have some good pictures, but not the quality I wish I had been able to take. Those that I did manage to take have an terrible mark on them where I had a dirty lens that I couldn't clean on the high seas. Nevertheless, it was breathtaking and more majestic than I can put into words, though I hope to try sometime soon while it's still fresh in my mind. Here are few of the scenes we saw.....
Harrison Ford and Anne Heche ran across this little beach and through this stone arch trying to escape pirates in Six Days, Seven Nights.
The Kalalau valley. Later that day we drove to the lookout atop this area.
Our captain took us inside several caves nestled in the rocky ocean cliffs,,,
After our Na Pali coast tour, we grabbed some lunch and drove the the Wiamea Canyon look outs. It's incredible to be that you can be on the ocean and in under an hour be at 3,500 feet looking at something like this.
The Fab 5 at Wiamea Canyon...
This is the wettest place on the entire planet (460" a year). Wish I could bring a little of it back to Kentucky.
The Kalalau Valley lookout. We were on that ocean in the background just a couple of hours before.
Kind of like standing on top of the world, don't you think?
Megan and Andrew, we'll be home in just a few more hours! We love you and can't wait to see you!
