Oscar the Grouch

I feel like lately I've been Oscar the Grouch. I'm tired and cranky and stretched too thin. I realize that most of the time I create the situation for myself by staying up too late or saying "yes" one too many times. With vacation this fall, I put the Holidays on the back burner and now I'm anxious about getting my shopping done (I usually have 95% of my shopping done by now and the other 5% planned.) But, last night, was a good night. I hated to miss church, but in the interest of self-preservation and coveting a little family time, we stayed home and put up our Christmas tree, listened to music, I even baked a few cookies. Then I got to curl up with my hubby and watch a movie. This morning, when I walked into my living room and saw my tree (even though there are still other boxes of decorations and outdoor lights yet to be put up), I thought, "Okay, this is more like it. I feel much better. Now, I feel like it's the holidays. Wooo-hooo! No more Oscar the Grouch!" Then I got a phone call today with some bad news that didn't surprise me, but does sadden me very deeply. So, now I'm ready to throw out the tree and sleep till January. Oscar, Scrooge and the Grinch ain't got nothing on me now!

Glad you got your tree up - sorry about the phone call. Just close your eyes and remember what an awesome evening you had with your family and maybe that will help dispel the grouches and grinches :-)

You are a good woman, and just for the record, I LOVE Oscar. I hope, however, that the Zoe / Elmo moments return. Just remember, on the days you want to be the old Snuffleupagus (the one no one could see), your friends who know you truly love you. You don't have to be a Super Grover all the time, and just like Big Bird says, "Everbody makes mistakes!" When you get stressed like Telly, kick back and count your blessings like the Count. If you need to relax, grab your rubber duckie and head into the tub, but lock the door so Ernie & Bert won't interrupt you. When all else fails, however, make like Cookie Monster and grab one of his favorite snacks; I recommend the chocolate variety. Love you, lady! Your pal, Ashley

This is an easy time of the year to feel that way with many demands pulling you in every direction. I was glad to see you last night and enjoy a taste of Christime Harmony. Let's get together for coffee sometime soon!

It must be nice to have a tree! "Screech" is driving me nuts with all the Christmas decorations, so we decided not to put up one at all this year!

Miss you!!!!
